Yup, NewFilipina.com has been online for 15 years now.
On May 15 of 1998, we posted our first teaser campaign and spread the word via email, from discussion board to discussion board, to ask people to join and help us create a positive Filipina presence online. Then the community site came alive.
It grew, gave birth to networking nights & workshops in Manila and NYC and finally FAWN2005, a Filipina leadership conference at the Kimmel Conference center of New York University next to Washington Square.
Sending love to all the old members, the contributors, the featured pinays, pinoys and causes we supported, and all the lasting friends I have made along the way. Special mention to the following Filipinas: Elke Aspillera, Lorial Crowder, Christina DeHaven, Val Tapalla, Serena Fojas, Joanna Natalia Aquino, Berna Ellorin, Ann Ubaldo, Geejay Arriola, Eileen Tabios, Leny Strobel, Bamboo Girl, April Pearl Evangelista, Cheryl Baun and more.
There is no end in sight yet. In 2008. NewFilipina.com evolved to be my blog where I shared new enlightened perspectives woven with beloved old, and sometimes, ancient traditions. In February of 2013 I gave the blog a whole new look and feel, energizing the posts with graphics that could be shared, pinned and reshared.
Aaaand, now Pinay.com, my new project, is on the way to making a new and positive presence and resource online for Filipinas. Stay tuned for the relaunch of Pinay.com in November 2013.
